  1984 Larkin Street begins as a drop-in center, providing food, clothing and a safe haven for 70 kids
  1988 Larkin Street enhances services with peer-based substance abuse program
  1991 President recognizes Larkin Street as a Point of Light
  1992 Nearly 800 youth access Larkin Street’s services
  1993 Larkin Street opens 16-bed Diamond Youth Shelter
  1995 Larkin Street opens Haight Street Referral Center
  1996 Larkin Street completes Strategic Plan and opens Avenues to Independence, a transitional living program
  1997 Larkin Street opens Assisted Care, the nation’s first comprehensive housing program for HIV+ youth
  1998 Larkin Street launches HIRE UP Education and Employment Initiative
  2000 The Lark-Inn for Youth opens, filling a critical gap in the city’s homeless services continuum
  2001 Larkin Street opens HIRE UP Education and Employment Center, complete with technology lab
  2002 Larkin Street opens two new housing programs, The LOFT and Ellis Street Apartments
  2003 Larkin Street receives 5 national awards, relocates flagship Drop-In Center and completes new Strategic Plan
  2004 LEASE housing program for former foster youth begins.
  2005 Sherilyn Adams is named Larkin Street’s Executive Director
  2006 Routz program created to offer housing and services to youth with mental and behavioral needs
  2007 G House opens to meet needs of transition-aged youth, 18-24
  2008 Holloway House opens, Larkin Street’s third transitional living facility for 18 to 24 year olds
  2009 Larkin Street celebrates 25 years, having reached over 70,000 youth since 1984
