Dear Larkin Street Family,

As I reflect on our Paving the Way Gala, my heart is filled with gratitude. Celebrating 40 years of dedication to Larkin Street’s mission was deeply meaningful. The evening was a gathering filled with laughter, unity, and a renewed commitment to ending youth homelessness. Your generous contributions have truly made a difference, helping us raise over $1.2 million—a testament to the huge success of the evening.

The highlights of the night included the inspiring words of Tomiquia Moss, who was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom as Secretary of Business, Consumer Services, and Housing Agency. Her reflections captured the essence of what we do and why we do it. It was also an honor to witness Mayor London Breed declaring April 27 as “Larkin Street Youth Day,” a tribute that underscores the importance of our mission.

Further enhancing our evening of honors, a special congratulations to Maryam Muduroglu, our esteemed Anne B. Stanton Award recipient. This award, named after a cherished Larkin Street Executive Director, is given to those who exemplify fierce commitment and impactful dedication to the work to end youth homelessness.

Following this acknowledgment, we celebrated the achievements of Omar Sosa Gaona, Maiyah Campbell, and Averaii, who received the Going the Distance Awards. Their journeys, along with the powerful story shared by our alum Chris Black, continue to inspire us all.

The premiere of our 40th-anniversary video and our live auction’s success demonstrated our community’s unwavering support. This support is more crucial than ever. Just two weeks ago, we were informed of significant funding cuts by the City, which put our employment and youth leadership programs at risk.

Yet, the spirit of the evening, the new partnerships formed, and the shared commitment among us all leave me optimistic about the future. Your support fuels our resolve to face these challenges head-on. Together, I am confident that we can continue to make a significant difference in the lives of youth.

To everyone who attended, thank you for bringing your energy and heart to this special evening. To those who couldn’t join us, your support remains invaluable in sustaining and advancing our mission. Each contribution, presence, and effort brings us closer to a future where every young person has the support they need. Thank you for being part of our Larkin Street family. Together, we pave the way forward.

Warmest Regards,

Sherilyn Adams,
