To our young people, staff and community,

In the wake of the hateful people and ideas behind the “Unite the Right” white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, VA this weekend, we would like to take this opportunity to re-affirm our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Larkin Street rejects the hatred, violence and ideology driving the White Nationalist movement.

This is not a complicated issue with “many sides.” White Nationalist ideology is vile and antithetical to the collective values of our country. We reject that ideology in its entirety, and we believe that rejecting such hate is an active instead of passive endeavor. Being silent or equivocal on the issue is not an option.

We mourn the loss of life in Charlottesville, and we mourn the racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and anti-Semitism that was on loud display there, and that exists more quietly every day.

Thank you for the work you do to reject this hate and create a safe place for our young people and each other, within Larkin Street and the community at large.

Sincerely,
Core Senior Management Team
