PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

The primary role of the Program Manager of Youth Leadership is to support Larkin Street’s youth leaders with advocacy work surrounding youth experiencing homelessness. Additionally, the Program Manager of Youth Leadership is responsible for assisting with creating spaces for youth voice and uplifting Larkin Street’s youth leadership vision throughout the agency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provide leadership and oversight to Larkin Street’s Youth Advisory Board
• Facilitate YAB meetings and organize additional workdays as needed
• Coordinate various trainings for youth leaders and staff from across the agency and community partners
• Develop high-quality work-based learning experiences for youth leaders
• Work with YAB members to develop work plans, timelines and activities to achieve project goals
• Work with program staff and leadership across the agency to incorporate youth voice and leadership opportunities
• Coordinate youth participation in panels, workshops, and speaking engagements at relevant community events
• Schedule and oversee youth attendance at conferences, local hearings, All Staff meetings and other appropriate opportunities
• Document youth leadership work, including ETO data input, schedule tracking, and processing of hours for stipend payment for YAB members
• Develop and maintain relationships with community partners; City and County partners, as well as other youth advocacy organizations
• Track program deliverables using both qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods
• Disseminate a monthly review and calendar of events to appropriate staff members
• Update and manage Youth Leadership SharePoint page

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in agency leadership as member of Larkin Street Youth Services Leadership
Team
• Recruit youth leaders through use of e-mail, flyers, attendance at meetings, and other avenues
• Continue to evaluate and develop programming as necessary
• Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Provide on-call support for Consultant rotation
• Assist with special projects and other assignments as requested by the Senior
Leadership team and the Chief of Programs
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Education or related field. Master’s strongly preferred

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:
• Three to Four (3-4) years of progressive experience in education, advocacy, policy, community organizing, workforce development or related discipline
• Experience community building and working in collaborative partnerships with other organizations, agencies, institutions, and entities
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring experience with youth
• Ability to support or lead collaborative projects
• Familiarity with youth development models
• Experience working with adolescents and/or transitional aged youth
• Experience in working in a multi-cultural, diverse environment
