There are four primary reasons that young people end up on the streets of San Francisco — abuse and neglect, family rejection, inter-generational economic instability, or systems involvement. Very often it’s some combination of all of these reasons. Regardless of the why, most young people who come to Larkin Street tell us that their situation was bad enough that the streets looked like a better option.
In our new video, young people speak for themselves about what caused their experience of homelessness. Please watch and help raise awareness that #HomelessnessIsNotAChoice!
Huge thanks to our partners, Dan Denegre of Space Race Studio and Jake Reilly for conceptualizing, filming and editing this powerful video.
