The Annual Performing Arts Night is an amazingly inspiring evening of performances from our very own talented group of youth artists, directed by Daniel Maradiaga, Art Program Manager. This year’s theme, “Reaching for the Stars,” speaks to each artist striving for their goals, and making those goals a reality. From original songs, to spoken word, to reimagining of classic tunes, the audience was pulled into the stories the young people shared through this evening of performing arts.
This year’s Youth Performing Arts Night featured the following artists: Isabella Black (Master of Ceremonies), Darq Skye (Mixed Media Gallery Show), SFC Dre, Angel Morales, D’Marco Degraffenreid, Sebastian Végo, BuddhaRose, Arthur Savangsy, Zenah Reinhardt, Shadow Gilliland, Jesse Weber, and Iovanni Arroyo.
There was a special acknowledgement of Peter Carpou, who founded the Larkin Street Arts Program in 1988.
We would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff and volunteers who make our Art Program possible, as well as help to put on this event; music instructors: Greer McGettrick, Marissa Balonon-Rosen, Julia Beth Runkle, Theresa Sawi, Elliott Peltzman, Leo Nava, and Terry Boyer; visual art instructors: Eva Enriquez, Susana Cortez, Brian Kolm, Kathy Kefalas, and Kevin Bixler. Sincere appreciation to our community partners: The Academy of Art University, Harmonic Humanity, Music City’s Plug N Play Club, Root Division, and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
